Sony’s latest Walkman debuts at lower price
Sony’s latest Walkman debuts at lower price: all of the 512MB/1GB/2GB models cost at least ¥5,200 (~$45) lower than estimated. We presented the new WALKMAN line-up back in September.
The 2GB NW-A608 goes for ¥23,800-26,800 (~ $200-225) compared to Sony’s announced ¥32,000 (~ $270). A 2GB iPod nano costs from Apple and around ¥20,000-21,800 (~ $170-185).
The 20GB NW-A3000 goes for ¥32,800 (~ $275)—original estimate ¥35,000 (~ $295); ¥2,000 (~ $17) cheaper than Apple’s video iPod.
(Please take the moment to thank us for taking the time to work out those currency conversions—you’re welcome!)
