iTunes video icons mean nothing
Some people never learn their lesson, do they? Because they found [via] some icons within the iTunes program with the phrases “Gift Video”, “Buy Video”, “Add Video” (picture [via]) it should mean a video store is just around the corner right? “It’s official, Apple is planning a video store” (source)! Well, no. If history should serve as an example for us, you could find an “Ogg” icon within the iTunes executable file for well over a year now; where’s iTunes’ support for Ogg Vorbis? In fact, Apple’s engineers still keep that “Ogg” icon in; just look into the “iTunes.exe” file. So, the recently discovered video-related icons aren’t something to make a big deal out of. To be perfectly clear, we don’t rule out the launching of an Apple-branded video store (in fact, we’re betting it’ll be out before March ‘06—whether it’ll be movies or $1.99 music videos [via] we don’t know); we’re merely saying that these icons mean nothing a propos to whether this launch is imminent or not.
