Apple/Motorola presentation: iPhone a.k.a. Motorola ROKR E1
You may want to read this introductory post before proceeding.
- capacity: about 100 songs; “the way we think of this phone is, it’s really an iPod shuffle on your phone”
- songs are transferred through a USB cable (USB 2.0 connectivity)
- like the Shuffle, there’s a “shuffle” mode to listen to your music and you can “autofill” the device with music
- there’s an iTunes hard-key that lets you access your music
- stereo headphones (with mic attached for calls, making this a headset) are included; you can always listen to the music through the phone’s speakers
- display: 176×220 pixels, 262k colours; supports album art (duh)
- the phone automatically pauses upon incoming call; resumes play once the call ends
- Cingular will be the exclusive provider of this phone in North America
- Ralph de la Vega, Cingular’s Chief Operating Officer, says: “you’re going to get your songs on your phone, anywhere you want them, any time you want them, with the world’s best music service, brought to you by Motorola and Cingular”—this most probably means the phone will be able to get songs on-the-fly from a Cingular-run music service, but no further word on it
- Cingular’s COO also addresses the battery issues; no need to worry, according to him, he flew cross-country with it yesterday, made some phone calls, left-it overnight and the battery gauge still showed full today
- will sell for $249.99 (2-year service agreement)
- weighs 3.77oz, measures 4.25×1.81×0.90 in.
- talk time up to 9 hours; standby time up to 9 days
- 850/1800/1900 MHz Tri-band GSM/GPRS, VGA camera, Bluetooth capabilities
- storage: 512MB microSD (TransFlash) card by SanDisk (press release)
- the product’s website is makemedance.com
